Catherine Elizabeth Middleton est née le 9 Janvier 1982 à Reading, Royaume-Uni, la fille de Michael Francis Middleton (23 Juin, 1949), une ancienne hôtesse de l'air et, plus tard, un employé de British Airways et Carol Elizabeth Goldsmith (31 Janvier 1955) aussi son ancien agent de bord. Les parents se sont rencontrés au travail et se sont mariés en Juin 1980, dans le Buckinghamshire. En 1984, il s'installe à Amman, en Jordanie, où son père travaillait pour British Airways. Le Middletons retourné dans le Berkshire en Septembre 1986. La famille de sa grand-mère maternelle, les Harrison, appartenait à la classe ouvrière.
